First thing first - WHERE to go ?

  1. Tanzania is home to a number of Africa’s finest parks! You can go to as many as 4 parks just within 5 days, which means spotting the BIG FIVE is highly achievable in Tanzania (read about what is big five down below)

  2. Choosing Tanzania you choose more authentic experience as Tanzania is not so commercial like for example neighbouring Kenya

  3. People are kind, welcoming and very helpful here. You will keep on hearing - KARIBU, JAMBO or MAMBO throughout your entire trip :) (welcome, hello)

  4. In Tanzania you have the amazing and very unique opportunity to experience it all! ADVENTURE - climb some of the most world famous African mountains like Mt. Meru or Mt. Kilimanjaro. WHEN to go ?

Once you decide where to go , It's time to choose when to go. In Tanzania we recognize two main seasons - DRY (from July to February) and RAINY (March till May)

There are few factors that can determine which month to choose

  1. Great Migration - happening from August to October.

  2. If you want to visit all parks - June to October is best. Animals are easiest to spot.

  3. Number of Visitors - Tanzania gets the highest number of tourists in December and January. If you want to avoid crowded parks and pay lower rates, November to May are the good months to come for your trip but keep in mind it might be rainy that time.

  4. If you decide to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro - best time for climbing are the warmest and driest times of year, from December to mid-March and mid-June to the end of October.

USEFUL WORDING you might need to know before your first Safari

Safari Jeep - A jeep which is specifically used for Safari tours. It has pop up roof and big windows for you to have a great view at the surroundings

Game Drive - Is an adventure that involves viewing wildlife in the comfort of a 4×4 open Land Rover which accommodates 4 to 6 people. Usually last around 3-5hrs

Big Migration - A unique annual wildlife experience where millions of Wildebeest, Zebras and other antelope species cross the river facing the danger of strong currents of river and hungry crocodiles. It takes place in Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.

Big Five - A group of animals everyone wants to see on their Safari Trip. Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo. A Safari Trip where you can spot all five is considered as a very successful one.

Serengeti - Most famous National Park in Tanzania if not in entire Africa!

Ngorongoro Crater - a UNESCO World Heritage Center. Unique National Park, formed when a large volcano erupted and collapsed on itself. It's the largest unbroken caldera in the world, and a very special place to spot your favorite animals.

TIPS for your first Safari

1. What to pack:

  • Mornings and nights around park areas get cold; it's recommended to bring warm clothing

  • Pieces to protect you from the sun like hat, sun screen lotions, lightweight long- sleeve shirts and pants are necessary (not to flashy colors rather, khaki - ish)

  • Minimum one pair of comfortable shoes to walk and flip flops

  • Mosquito repellent, after bite cream

  • Torch, headlight might be very useful

  • First aid kit

  • Power bank

  • Binoculars to observe animals

  • Plug adapter ( Tanzania has the UK style )

  • Wet wipes, tissues, even roll of toilet paper might be sometimes very useful

2. Be ready to wake up early for your game drive

3. Be open-minded, and flexible: Every safari trip is different and not every moment of your game drive trip will be breathtaking, sometimes you might drive for hours with not much to see but Safari is an unpredictable experience so better not to have any expectations and just enjoy the journey, it's worth waiting for those unforgettable moments!

3. Stay safe by adapting to the rules: Listen carefully to the rules your driver/guide will pass to you, the fines are big and you will have to cover them from your own pocket.

4. Do not hesitate to ask questions: Safari drivers/guides are very knowledgeable and they can fill your long journey with some amazing facts and stories.

5. Don’t forget about your travel insurance!
