As a nature enthusiast and wildlife lover, I couldn't resist the chance to go on a one-day safari in Ngorongoro National Park during my time to Tanzania in March. I had heard so much about the park's breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife, and I was excited to experience it for myself.
My journey began a day earlier, taking public transportation to go two hours away from Arusha to get to a camp near the park for the night. I had a lovely evening there with other safari groups and a pleasant show of an African dance. I began early the next morning when I was picked up from the camp to drive another hour into the park meeting up with the group I was joining for breakfast. We then passed through the beautiful countryside and villages along the way. When we arrived at the park entrance, we were greeted by a stunning view of the Ngorongoro Crater, which immediately took our breath away.
Our guide took us on a game drive through the park, and we were immediately surrounded by a wide variety of wildlife, including zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, and buffalo. We also saw many species of birds, including vultures, eagles, and flamingos.
As we continued our drive, we entered the Ngorongoro Crater and were blown away by the vastness and beauty of the area. We saw elephants, hippos, hyenas, and even a rare sighting of a black rhinoceros in the distance.
One of the highlights of our safari was seeing a pride of lions lounging around under the sun with cubs playing nearby. We were able to get quite close to them without disturbing them, which was an unforgettable experience.
After our game drive, we stopped for lunch at a picnic area in the park, where we enjoyed a delicious meal while taking in the stunning views of the crater.
Our day ended with one last little drive through the park before headed back to be dropped off my my place in Arusha.
Overall, my one-day safari in Ngorongoro National Park was an unforgettable experience. The park's natural beauty and diverse wildlife were truly breathtaking, and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience even more special. I would highly recommend a visit to Ngorongoro National Park to anyone visiting Tanzania, even if it's just for a day. It's an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime.
